La cucina nazionale è piuttosto varia. Alcune delle ricette dei piatti uzbeki hanno una lunga storia. Ogni piatto ha i suoi riti e i suoi metodi di cottura. Ci sono più di 1000 ricette per cibo, bevande e dolci.
Il "Palov" è il piatto più famoso. È sia un piatto festivo che quotidiano. Nessun matrimonio, festa o compleanno può fare a meno di questo piatto. Gli ingredienti del palov sono carne, riso, carote, cipolla, spezie ...
Il pane è sacro per il popolo uzbeko. Sul solo mercato di Samarcanda, ci sono circa venti varietà di pane. La "Shurva" - la zuppa - occupa un posto speciale nella cucina uzbeka. Il Shurva varia in base agli ingredienti. "Shashlyk" e "Somsa" sono i piatti più famosi del paese. La "Khalva", una prelibatezza tradizionale in Oriente, conosciuta in tutto il mondo, deriva dalla cottura di farina, zucchero e noci. In Uzbekistan ci sono più di 50 varietà di Khalva. Sono apprezzate anche varie specie di frutta, uva, melone e anguria.
