Voyage along the Silk Road

Our Silk Road tour includes wandering along the Central Asian cuntries (from Bishkek to Nissa). Our team endeavor to pass this historical road as it was originally crossed, via Camel Caravan. The journey begin in Bishkek. From Bishkek we continue our travel through Fergana, Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara, Khiva, Nissa, Ashgabat.

Your guide will pick you up at 8 a.m and you will be transferred to IssykKul Lake, surrounded by the celestial mountains. It’s the second largest alpine lake in the world (1608 m. above sea level). The lake is called “the pearl of Central Asia”. Due to the salty water, Lake IssykKul possesses curative qualities. On route to the lake you will visit Burana Tower (an 11th century minaret) and an open air museum of Balbans (stone warriors). You will get to enjoy a traditional lunch and then we’ll make our trip to the lake. Your dinner will be in a local restaurant. Night is in a hotel.

In the morning you will be transferred to Kochkor village. On the way, we will make a short break to give you the opportunity to visit ancient stone inscriptions (dating back to 800 B.C.). In Kochkor village you will spend some time with a family that will show you the way our national felt carpets are made. You even can create your own carpet together with them. You will also get to visit a small handicraft museum there. They have many examples of silver decorations, coats made of wolves, horse saddle decorations, carpets and more. Night will be in a home stay.

After breakfast we start our drive to the second largest lake in Kyrgyzstan – Son Kul Lake. This lake is surrounded by mountains and it is the highest alpine lake in Kyrgyzstan, situated at an altitude of 3013 meters above sea level. Kyrgyz nomads started to come to this wonderful area with their families for rest and relaxation. Herders of the Naryn region come to the lake to use it as a pastureland. After our arrival, you will be free to explore and enjoy the virgin nature of the lake and its surroundings. Dinner and overnight is in nomadic collapsible dwellings – yurts. They are made of a wooden skeleton, covered with felt coverings.

In the morning you will be transferred to Kochkor village. The road will go along amazing gorge and you will drive today over KalmakAshu pass that is 3 225 meters high. In Kochkor village you will spend some time with a family that will show you the way our national felt carpets are produced. Also you will visit a small handicraft museum there. Afterwards you will be transferred to the capital of Kyrgyzstan – Bishkek city. Flight to Osh. Night is in a hotel.

Breakfast in Osh. Transfer to the border. Drive to Andijon. Visit the park “Bobur” in the center of the city. Lunch in a “Chaykhana” tea house. Continue your drive to Margilan and visit of Silk workshop in Margilan, unique silk factory in the country where you can find the famous Atlas and Adrass, Drive through Fergana. Check in to your hotel and relax before dinner. Overnight at hotel.

Today you are transferred to Kokand. Along the way stop in Rishtan (50 km), famous for its brilliant blue glazed pottery, and visit a local workshop. Later you visit Kokand, one of Uzbekistan’s most ancient towns with records dating back to the 10th century. It was an important trade centre on the Silk Road and today its major monuments date from the 18th century when the town was the centre of the powerful Kokand Khanate. Visit the madrassah of Norbut– Bii, Djuma mosque, Dahmai – Shahon mausoleum and the palace of Khudayar Khan. Transfer to the railway station at 16:00. Arrive in Tashkent this evening. Accommodation in the hotel, diner, overnight in hotel.

After breakfast we are invited to our first visit Tashkent. We start sightseeing tour from the Independent square and Amir Temur square which is new city. We continue our travel to the old part of city through Kukeldash madrassah and “Chorsu” bazaar. After Lunch we transferred to the beautiful hotel, here we stay 1 night. We continue to visit of touristic attractions: Khast-Imam, the madrasah Barak-Khan where is kept the Uthman Qur’an (VII), the mosque Tilla-Shaiyh, the mausoleum Kaffel-Shashi as well. Leave Tashkent at 19:50 pm. Transfer to Samarkand and arrive at 21:00. Overnight in Samarkand.

After breakfast leave Tashkent. Transfer to the station at 08:00 and arrive in Samarkand, transfer to the hotel. At 10 am we begin guided trip of Samarkand old centre, taking in the main square, the impressive Bibi-Khanume mosque, rebuilt after a conquest of Russia 1870. We also visit of Shakhi-Zinda Necropolises which is probably one of the most significant religious complexes in Samarkand and monument of unique architecture in whole Central Asia. We visit the local Siyab Bazaar with its amazing colorful oriental shops and markets. The late afternoon and evening are left free for private exploration. (Optional activity: visit the Registan light show) Dinner is served at a local restaurant. Overnight at the hotel.

After breakfast we take a 10 minute ride above the Afrasiyab remains and archaeological expedition, and also we visit “Afrasiyab” museum and observatory “Ulugbek”. After lunch we will have time to explore the Samarkand silk paper workshop “Meros”. The wind factory “Xovrinko” Get a taste of Samarkand wind. Overnight at the hotel.

Transfer to the station, depart to Bukhara. Optional morning activity: we start travel by private bus from hotel across Bukhara. We travel on the main park of the city and Ismail Samanid mausoleum, Chasma- Ayub mausoleum, to Bukhara local bazaar, Ark Fortress or town citadel and Bolo-Khauz mosque. Lunch is served at a local restaurant. After lunch we begging Bukhara city tour, on this tour we visit  the currently still used old madrasah Miri-Arab, Poi-Kalon Ensemble including the minaret Kalyan, Taqi Zargaron (Trading dome of the jewelers), Taqi Telpak Fouruoshon (trading dome of the of the haters), ToqiSarrafon (Trading dome of the money changers), Ulug-Bek madrasah, Abdulaziz-khan madrasah, Magoki Attori mosque, Labi Khaouz complex. Tonight dinner is served at local restaurant, here we enjoy Uzbek cuisine. Overnight at the hotel.

Breakfast. We are pick up by our bus for our journey to the residence of Emir of Bukhara, Ensemble of Bakha-ad-Din Nakshband, Chor minor. Lunch is served at a local restaurant and transfer to your beautiful hotel. Dinner is served at a local restaurant. The evening is free to explore the cities lively nightlife and excellent panorama. Overnight at the hotel.

Today embark on Uzbekistan’s most popular scenic drive of 500 km – Khorezim. You are driven to Khiva (approx 6 hours) through the breathtaking Kyzyl–Kum desert. As you travel along, there will be plenty of stops for photos at the best vantage points. Have a lunch at the “Chayxana” Tea house. Arrive in Khiva, check in to hotel and welcome drink. In the evening head to a restaurant for a memorable experience in a wonderful setting with good food and entertainment. Overnight at the hotel.

Visit Kunya-Ark Fortress (Castle Khana), Ichan Kala, Tower Kalta Minor, Madrassah Muhammad Amin Khan, Juma Mosque with 212 trees and Minaret, Tash Khauli, the Mosque Ark, the Minaret of Islam Khodja, the Minaret of the main Vizir, and Caravansaray of Allakhuli-Khan, the Memorial of Pakhlavan Makhmud, Khiva Bazaar, and the craft centers of Khiva. Overnight at the hotel.

Transfer to Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan border point . Proceed to customs and passport control on both sides.  After passing Turkmenistan border post meet Turkmenistan guide. Drive to KunyaUrgench 110 km (UNESKO 2005) ancient capital of Khorezm. Visit mausoleums of Il Arslan and SoltanTekesh, Nejmeddin Kubra, Soltan Ali,Turabek-Khanum(12th c), minaret of KutlugTimur, MamunII. Lunch.After lunch, drive to Gas Crater (268km) dubbed by locals as The Door to Hell. The Derweze area is rich in natural gas. En-route we cross Karakum desert, will make a stop at small nomad village and in the evening watch the spectacular and fascinating view of the gas crater. DinneratGasCrater. Overnightin a tent.

Picnic style breakfast. Drive to Ashgabat. On the way visiting Erbent village.After continued to Ashgabat city. Arriving in Ashgabat city. City tour:you will visit Ruhyyet Palace, Wedding Palace, modern Yildyz Hotel, Ferries Wheel, Constitution Monument, Arch of Neutrality, Monument and park of Independence, ArtogrulGazy Mosque. After lunch we will visit Nissa fortress -the Sanctuary of Parthian Kings. UNESCO declared fortress a World Heritage Site in 2007. Traditional restaurant dinner. Tonight is the last night of Silk Road tour.

Breakfast at the hotel. Farewell with tourists and transfer to the International airport of Ashgabat for flight to home.
