In the previos times, it was one of the four largest lakes in the world with an area of 68,000 km2 (26,300 sq mi).

In the past it was one of the four largest lakes in the world with an area of 68,000 km2 (26,300 sq mi). The Aral Sea has been shrinking since the 1960s after the rivers that fed it were diverted by Soviet irrigation projects. By 1997, it had declined to 10% of its original size. Satellite images taken by NASA in August 2014 revealed that for the first time in modern history the eastern basin of the Aral Sea had completely dried up. The shrinking of the Aral Sea has been called “one of the planet’s worst environmental disasters”. In this tour package you will discover the Aral Sea with its ship grave, impacts to the environment and health problems to local people. Schedule

Early breakfast.  Transfer to the airport to take a flight to Nukus at 06:45 (HY-1051). Arrival to Nukus and transfer to the hotel and after pay a visit to the Museum of Savitiskiy (Nukus State Museum of Art named after Savitiskiy). Lunch at alocal restaurant. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

Breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast we start our 8 hours drive tour to discover the followings: Nukus – (by your desire we can organise the following tour: Kungrad – Plato Ustyurt – Sudochye Lake) – Mouynak – Aral Sea. On our way we will stop at Mizdakhan Mausoleum and Gaur- Kala Fortress. Arrival to Aral Sea is a little bit before the dusk. Driver will set a camp until you explore the surroundings. Enjoy your open air dinner. Overnight in Tent or Yurt camp.

Breakfast as picnic style. You can shoot some great photos early in the morning at down. After breakfast visit to picturesque canyons of Ustyurt and drive towards Muynak through the dried bottom of the sea. On arrival to Muynak we pay a visit to the graveyard of Ships in ex-shore of the Aral Sea. Lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch visit town museum. Then we drive to Nukus (210 km, 3 hours.). Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

Breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast move towards to Khiva. On our way to Khiva, stop off to have a look the fortress Tuprok-Kala and Ayaz-Kala. Arrival to Khiva at late noon. Dinner at a local restaurant and overnight stay at the hotel.
